SDS has the BD-Power 1081160 Cool Down Timer 2 to help preserve the turbo in your 1994-2019 Ford Super Duty, 1994-2005 Dodge Ram, or 2001-2014 GM Silverado/Sierra. Turbochargers operate at very high temperatures. This Cool Down Timer is designed to keep the engine running when the ignition is turned off to prevent turbocharger bearing failure that could occur when the engine is shut off. When the engine is not running, it stops the cool lubricating oil flowing to the turbocharger while it is still hot. If the oil flow is shut off too soon, the remaining oil in the bearing housing will overheat causing coking of the bearings. This coking causes both premature bearing wear and reduced oiling of the bearings. Allowing the engine to idle to a minimum operating RPMs gives the turbocharger time to cool down. The Cool Down Timer is adjustable for up to 5 minutes of idle time or optionally works with any K-Type EGT pyrometer probe for temperature-based shutdown.
Application Note: Will not work on Push-Button start Ford Trucks.
