Tune your 2017+ GM Transmission with HP Tuners

Ready to tune your GM vehicles’ transmission with HP Tuners? We are pleased to offer custom tuning support for the GM T87A TCM found in 2017+ GM vehicles with the 8-speed or 10-speed transmission as well as 2015-2019 GM vehicles with the 6-speed transmission.

Due to the complexity of this controller, all T87A TCMs must be upgraded via one of the upgrade options below to enable tuning in VCM Suite (BETA). Once upgraded, users can access important transmission parameters in our software within shift scheduling, shift pressures, shift timing, torque management, and more to improve drivability and power delivery. Plus, our solution provides this access directly via the OBDII port using an HP Tuners interface.

Upgrade Only Service

Our upgrade-only option will upgrade your T87A TCM to enable tuning. Simply send us your TCM and we’ll send it back to you fully upgraded for tuning. Make sure to include your VIN when checking out (always double-check your VIN for accuracy to avoid delays). This service takes 1-3 business days to complete (not including shipping times).

Note: Keep in mind that with this option, your TCM will be returned to you with the same programming. If you want the TCM to be pre-programmed to a different VIN, this is not the option for you. Please select “Upgrade & Program” instead.

Note: No need for an IMMO Relearn, Crank Relearn, or to perform the “Replace TCM” Function in VCM Scanner on the stock TCM.

Upgrade & Program Service

Our upgrade and program option allows you to send in your T87A TCM (new or spare) to be upgraded and pre-programmed for a specific VIN. Once upgraded and licensed, your TCM will be “plug and play” and can be tuned immediately—no need for the GM factory tool.

Simply select “Upgrade & Program” from the dropdown box above and ensure you include your VIN (please double-check your VIN for accuracy to avoid delays). This service takes 1-3 business days to complete (not including shipping times).

Note: If you are removing the T87A TCM from your vehicle and plan to reinstall it in the same vehicle, you do not require this service. Please select the “Upgrade Only” option instead.

New Upgraded TCM Purchase

This option allows you to purchase a brand-new, already upgraded T87A TCM for your supported GM vehicle directly from HP Tuners. Your new TCM will already be upgraded for tuning and programmed to the VIN you add during checkout (please double-check your VIN for accuracy to avoid delays).

⚠️ Once you receive your new TCM, install it in your vehicle and follow the Replace T87A TCM Instructions. Then, license the controller and start tuning!

Everything you need to tune your T87A TCM vehicle with HP Tuners:

1. Select one of the three options available above: Upgrade Only, Upgrade & Program, or New Upgraded TCM Purchase.
2. Download the latest version of VCM Suite BETA for free.
3. Once upgraded, purchase (4) Universal Credits to license your T87A TCM/vehicle.
4. Make sure you have an MPVI, MPVI2, MPVI2+, or MPVI3 interface.
   • Purchase a new MPVI3
   • Upgrade your old device for MPVI3 

Note: Universal Credits for licensing are not included in the cost of any upgrade service or purchase. Credits must be purchased separately.

Note: We also support the T93 TCM found in 2020+ GM vehicles as well as some 2019+ GM vehicles (non-Global B) with the 8 and 10-speed transmissions.
