The Sun Coast A1-BFP-ZB Billet Zero Balance Flex Plate will enhance the performance of the transmission in your 2011-2016 GM 6.6L Duramax LML. The factory flex plate is bolted to the converter is bolted to flex plate and is then bolted to the crankshaft. The torque from the engine is transferred to the flex plate, through the flex plate to the converter and then to the input shaft inside the transmission. Increased torque from the engine can cause the stock flex plate to crack or rip the center out of the flex plate.
This Sun Coast A1-BFP-ZB Billet Zero Balance Flex Plate replaces the factory unit with an improved billet-steel one-piece design and eliminates the weak flex plate. This flex plate is a must-have with a high torque engine in conjunction with a improved designed torque converter that can transfer the torque with no slip.
Note: A SFI certified flywheel flex plate is required on drag racing vehicles running 11.99 and quicker in the 1/4 mile and 7.49 and quicker in the 1/8 mile, or any vehicle exceeding 135 mph. It was changed in 2008 from the 29.1 SI specification to the SFI specification 29.3 for automatic transmission flex plates for diesel applications. The new rules for the flex plate require that the material cannot be a stamped metal as are many OEM and aftermarket flex plates. To maintain the SI specification 29.3 requirements, the flex plate must be replaced every three years.
